Help with Revision

When I was at School I always found it extremely hard to get my head around revision. No matter how I planned I always seemed to get myself into a real pickle.

My niece has just done her GCSE’s and with her help I put together the tips below to help revision alittle easier.

  1. Make sure you leave enough time for you revision although we all learn and remember at different speeds still it is all about the preparation – why limit yourself to a short schedule. Plan a realistic timetable and make sure you have ready the notes and relevant text books.
  2. Make sure you still leave time from yourself have a couple of days some days off or build at least 2 into every week
  3. Revise in short secessions don’t over load your brain all in one go. Revise for 2 hours then have a 10-15 minute break. Cramming all in is a quick fix and does not last!
  4. Decide on your environment, quiet or subtle music playing in the back ground, but most importantly make sure the room is light and airy.
  5. Exam times very stressful no matter how well you prepare, get plenty of sleep and try to eat a balanced diet. Try not to eat too many carbs at lunch time or you will start to feel sleepy.
  6. Most importantly it’s not the end of the world if you don’t do as well in your exams as you expected. You did you best and that all that should ever be required of you.
