Robots to mark essays
Robots are being introduced by the owner of 3 of the largest exam boards to mark English essays from next month. They are aiming to automate the whole process of marking exams and starting our slowly. They believe that this will also affect GCSE and A-Level essays, however how accurate will this be and will we see test takers disappointed by this automation. Speculation is high on the accuracy of these robots.
Essentially machines have been coded to scan essays and recognise for potential answers and put together the marks at the end. The owner believes this will be more accurate than human marking, I very much doubt this and hope that this is tested thoroughly as this is literally playing with someone’s future.
